Information about our beach

Finn's Island Retreat is located at the Port Royal Sound inlet of the Atlantic Ocean.  Although it is a private beach, it is directly next to Fish Haul Beach Park which is a hidden diamond nestled on the island.

At the time we purchased the unit, we had a three year old boy.  We spent hours  going up and down the beach, looking at all the wild life and exploring the area.  As we walked away from the ocean, the beaches were littered with sea turtle nests, the water line was sprinkled with oyster clusters and the waters had rays, shrimp and horse shoe crabs all about.  The coolest part for my son was the hundreds of hermit crabs scurrying around during low tide.  During low tide we walked 1/4 mile out into the sound while high tide we were still able to walk out a couple hundred feet.  

While walking towards the ocean, the sea life became bigger!  We could see whales breaching in the distance, schools of dolphins moseying by and jumbo prawns along the shore.  I cannot tell you how exciting it is to expose our son to experiences he can't get where we currently live.
